Desert CycloCross is a fun social event that anyone can join, with any bike and any Auscycling licence.  Its all about fun on a mix of dirt and concrete.   Enjoy a fast lap around the velodrome, and then leap over a few hurdles and take a muddy corner here and there.   We recommend a mountain bike, but any bike can be used.  We also suggest lights for the events later in the series. Gates open at 5.30pm, with racing starting at 6.00pm, so bring bike lights.  This is a 5 week series that will end with a Pizza night on the last night for all involved.   All riders need a valid AusCycling licence, either a Lifestyle or All Race.  Membership can be obtained at https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership   4 week trial membership can be obtained at https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/free-trial

Stuart's Well Gran Fondo 2025
Alice Springs
07:15 – 14:30
The Stuart’s Well Gran Fondo is the first of Alice Springs Cycling Club's three glorious Gran Fondo rides that we hold each year.  It is a favourite for both those who want to aim for a PB and those that want a social ride with majestic views and a pretty awesome BBQ at the finish.  A bus and bike trailer will take you back to Alice (spaces are limited so please book). Families and friends are very welcome as long as they book (we like to cater for everyone) and have their own transport home. At 90k you need a reasonable level of fitness for this event, but a bus following the last riders will pick up anyone who is struggling.  There is a social category, who will all ride together for the distance.  You can also start this ride at the prison if you want it a bit shorter (be sure to let the organisers know). Its a good workout to help ensure you are fit enough for the Ride to the Border on the May Day weekend. Because it is not a race, you are able to enter on an AusCycling Lifestyle membership, which gives you third party insurance cover for peace of mind. Check out Lifestyle membership here https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/lifestyle .  All riders will need to show proof of membership (download your membership to your phone wallet). Details: Meet at the old Memo car park cnr Gap Rd and Stuart Tce for a 7.30am start. Neutral ride to opposite the prison on Stuart Hwy. Option to start at the prison. Finish at Stuart’s Well for BBQ lunch (riders to bring a salad).  FREE ENTRY              Please book the bus separately for each rider. The bus will return riders to Alice Springs approximatley 2.30pm. Bikes will be transferred in the ASCC bike trailer. Riders and bikes will be dispersed at the old Memo Club carpark. All riders are requested to bring a salad or dessert. These can be dropped off to the lead vehicle at the start of the race.  NOTE - BRING PLENTY OF WATER, SNACKS AND SUNSCREEN

CX is soon to return to the ASCC clubrooms, so we need to work on the CX track and get things ready.   This event brings together members from ASCC and CARR for a bit of fun on a track around the ASCC clubrooms area, and normally includes a lap of the velodrome.   Work will start at 8am and conclude around lunch time with drinks and snacks.  Desert CX (Short Track MTB) is a fun event based around the ASCC clubrooms.  The track is primarily dirt with some great burms and obstacles that make it a fun 20 min ride.   If there are enought juniors we will also run a seperate junior event suitable for the ages attending.  Lights would be advisable for the last few events in late April early May, as the sun will be setting.

Individual Time Trial #2 2025
Rangers Station, Darken Drive, Simpsons Gap
07:45 – 09:45
This Time Trial #2 is a Short Course TT over 10km along Darken Drive, Simpsons Gap.  Registration, Start and finish are at the ranger station.  The course will travel 5km towards Simpsons Gap from the Rangers station and return (turn-around at 5km). An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock.  Each rider departs at set intervals and must race alone (no drafting) to complete the course.  This is a great way to enter cycle racing as you do not need to understand group riding etiquette, it is purely you and your bike against the clock.  To enter this event you require Auscycling membership.  Membership types for entry into a Time Trial, include All Race, Lifestyle or Race Off Road (mtb).    To obtain membership go to the Auscycling website at   https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership Race Director: Stu McDonell   Commissaire: Phillip Davis
