Race Report and Results A group of 9 riders untook this event on a warm blustery day starting at Flynns Grave carpark.  The riders completed two laps of a 10.1 km course.  Russell North looked after the turn at the western end of the course and Minette, Stew and Laurie pondered how to save the world from Santos between laps at the finishline turnaround.  Max and Josh completed the first lap about 3 minutes ahead of a group of four that included Clive, Tarren, Tarneyl and Billy.   In the end Clive finished 13 seconds in front of Tarren, followed  by Max 50 seconds behind, and Josh in pursuit another 13 seconds behind. Tarneyl another 3.5 minutes later, half a second in front of Billy.  Ben, Kevin and Adrian came in some 5 minutes later. Start at Flynn’s Grave car park, ride Larapinta Drive to turn-around at 10km, return to start and repeat (two laps of 20km = 40km total). Riders will be handicapped based on recent performances and form and will be at the discretion of the officials.   To save time at sign up on the day you can pre-register below through the ticket function. An All Race Licence is required for this event.  If you have a Lifestyle Licence you can upgrade by visiting https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/upgrade Race Director: Stew Clark   Commissaire: Laurie Berryman A handicap race is a road race where riders are given different start times to give riders of differing abilities the chance of finishing the race at the same time.  Handicap start times are determined by the club race officials. This job requires a lot of skill to work out a fair start time for each rider given the distances of races vary along with the degree of difficulty and weather conditions on the day. Handicap start times for individual riders may vary from race to race as the handicapper takes into consideration past performances and other feedback from races. Results

Stuarts Well Gran Fondo 23
07:30 – 11:00
The Stuart’s Well Gran Fondo is the first of Alice Springs Cycling Club's three glorious Gran Fondo rides that we hold each year.  It is a favourite for both those who want to aim for a PB and those that want a social ride with a pretty awesome BBQ at the finish.  A bus and bike trailer will take you back to Alice (spaces are limited so please book). Families and friends are very welcome as long as they book and have their own transport home. At 90k you need a reasonable level of fitness for this event, but a bus following the last riders will pick up anyone who is struggling.  You can also start this ride at the prison if you want it a bit shorter (be sure to let the organisers know). Its a good workout to help ensure you are fit enough for the West Macs Cruise at the end of April. Because it is not a formal race, you are able to enter on an AusCycling Lifestyle membership, which gives you third party insurance cover for peace of mind.  Lifestyle membership costs about $80, and a club membership add-on is less than $20 extra.  All riders will need to show proof of membership (on your phone is the best way). Details: Meet at the old Memo car park cnr Gap Rd and Stuart Tce. Neutral ride to opposite the prison on Stuart Hwy. Option to start at the prison. Finish at Stuart’s Well for BBQ lunch (riders to bring either a salad or dessert).  Entry fee for the ride is $10 for ASCC members and $20 for non-members; the bus is an extra $10 for ASCC members and $30 for non-members. You need to book entry and bus seperately for each rider. For further information call Ben Kaethner on 0418859287  All riders are requested to bring either a salad or dessert, you will be asked to indicate which when you do you entry registration.   These can be dropped off to the lead vehicle at the start of the race.  NOTE - BRING PLENTY OF WATER, SNACKS AND SUNSCREEN

Rangers Station, Darken Drive, Simpsons Gap
07:45 – 09:45
This Time Trial #1 is a Short Course TT over 10km along Darken Drive, Simpsons Gap.  Registration, Start and finish are at the ranger station.  The course will travel 5km towards Simpsons Gap from the Rangers station and return (turn-around at 5km). An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock.  Each rider departs at set intervals and must race alone (no drafting) to complete the course.  This is a great way to enter cycle racing as you do not need to understand group riding etiquette, it is purely you and your bike against the clock.  To enter this event you require Auscycling membership.  Membership types for entry into a Time Trial, include All Race, Lifestyle or Race Off Road (mtb).    To obtain membership go to the Auscycling website at   https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership Race Director: Mike Heyburn   Commissaire: Adrian Basso
